Locality
Château de Gourgazaud is like an island, perched in pinewoods, overlooking the Syrah and Mourvèdre vines on the terraces of La Livinière. It’s an universe in itself, where Roger Piquet and his family have developed the Minervois lands with pride in both their vines and wines. Far from fashion and sparkle, since 1973, here on the hundred hectares estate, everything has been set up to guide the Château in the culture of quality and the production of great wines.

Geography of vineyard
The grapes are grown on ancient decalcified terraces. The soil is acidic , poor in organic minerals , but rich in schist and quartz pebbles.

Grapes variety
Syrah and Mourvèdre.

Vinification
Syrah grapes undergo a lengthy maceration of more than 15 days in temperature controlled vats (25° C). This process leads to the extraction of the most noble components and obtains light concentrations of tannins. The wine is then aged for 12 months in new oak barrels.

Tasting note
Nice deep red colour . Dominant nose of blueberry and prunes, notes of “garrigue”. Lively and long mouth.
